CADO History

CADO was founded in 1939 to promote and support California’s licensed Dispensing Optician ophthalmic businesses through education and legislation. This commitment was important to ensure consumers had a free choice to have their eyeglasses and contact lens prescriptions filled through Licensed Registered Dispensing Ophthalmic (RDO) businesses. CADO is governed completely by a voluntary board of directors. CADO is the ONLY organization in California representing the business interests of RDO firms. It is financially supported by reasonable yearly association dues of like-minded business owners and individual Dispensing Opticians and other professionals in the optical dispensing profession.
